Well, this series didn't begin the way Atlanta expected.

Starter Spencer Strider had one of his worst innings of his career, not making it out of the third inning as Pittsburgh went on to win a rain-delayed contest, 7-6, to open the series.

But the Braves are right back at it this evening, with Yonny Chirinos going to the mound versus Pirates 2023 All-Star Mitch Keller.

Lineup for the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday, August 8th

Here's how the Braves will line up for the contest:

Atlanta's sticking with the usual suspects for this one, with Sean Murphy the starting catcher, in the #5 spot, and Eddie Rosario playing left field and batting 7th.

Pitching Matchup for the Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday, August 8th

Starting for Atlanta is Yonny Chirinos. The former Tampa Bay Ray is 5-4 with a 4.42 ERA on the season, although his two starts with Atlanta have been much rougher - 8.2 combined innings with twelve hits and two runs. Despite 4+ years in the league, he's never faced the Pirates and the only member of their roster to see him in the past is Andrew McCutchen, who is 0-1.

Opposing the Braves is Pirates RHP Mitch Keller. 9-8 with a 4.35 ERA, he's struck out 150 in his 138.2 innings of work. Similar to Spencer Strider, he's also having a rough go of it after the All-Star Break, with three outings of six earned runs or more in his last four starts, all losses. Keller's 0-2 lifetime with a 10.03 ERA against Atlanta, allowing 25 hits and 18 runs (13 earned) in just 11.2 career innings. Both Ronald Acuña Jr (2-8, 1 RBI) and Ozzie Albies (1-4, 2 RBIs) have taken him deep in the past.
