The Atlanta Braves return home after a series sweep against the 2nd place Miami Marlins and get rewarded with a matchup against the...2nd place Baltimore Orioles.

The Birds, sitting at 21-10 on the season, have finally gotten back into contention after multiple 100+ loss seasons behind a bevy of young prospects acquired during the lean years and savvy veteran additions. The formula's simple: wear out your opponent's starter with base hits, get into their bullpen, and then let your dominant bullpen hold the lead.

Atlanta's roster move today to activate Raisel Iglesias and send Dylan Dodd back to Gwinnett should help with this: It not only deepens the bullpen by letting them run with an extra man until you need a 5th starter against Texas on the 16th, it also adds a reliever in Iglesias that was the best pitcher in baseball after he moved from the Angels to Atlanta last season (28 appearances, 0.34 ERA in 26.1 innings with thirty strikeouts to only five walks)

Lineup

Here's how the Braves will line up for the contest:

Ronald Acuña Jr, one day after leaving the lineup due to a foul ball off the knee, is back in there, leading off and playing right field. Eddie Rosario is in left with Marcell Ozuna at DH, while Sam Hilliard gets the start in center so that Michael Harris can rest his hyperextended knee for at least one more game. New call-up Braden Shewmake makes his debut in the nine hole, playing shortstop.

Pitching Matchup

Starting for the Braves tonight is Max Fried. Atlanta's ace, who last pitched in a rain-shortened five inning complete game against New York last Friday, is 2-0 on the year with a 0.45 ERA in his four starts on the season. He's pitched exactly one time against the Baltimore Orioles, pitching a complete game shutout with four hits and striking out four with no walks on August 20, 2021 in a game Atlanta won 3-0.

Facing off against Atlanta is RHP Dean Kremer. He's 2-1 on the season with a 6.67 ERA in his six starts on the year, pitching 29.2 innings with twenty-five strikeouts to nine walks and seven home runs allowed. He's never faced Atlanta in his career, but two Braves have at-bats against him: Sen Murphy, who is 0-3, and Eddie Rosario, who went 1-1 with an RBI.

How to Watch

First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 ET. The game will be broadcast in Braves Country on Bally Sports South and is available on MLB.TV outside of the broadcast area. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on WIFN 1340 AM/103.7FM or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
