Finally, our long national nightmare is over.

The Atlanta Braves ended their four-game skid with a dominating 9-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies last night in Truist Park. Now Atlanta goes for the series victory this afternoon, and it's a doozy of a pitching matchup: Aaron Nola is on the mound for Philly, facing off against Bryce Elder.

Lineup for the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, September 20th

Here's how Atlanta will line up for the finale:

It's mostly the usual suspects for Atlanta in this one, with the only unexpected change being a start for Nicky Lopez at shortstop in place of Orlando Arcia, batting 9th. As usual for a day game after a night game, there's a change behind the plate with Sean Murphy rotating in for Travis d'Arnaud, batting 6th.

Pitching Matchup for the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday, September 20th

Starting for Atlanta is Bryce Elder. 12-4 this season with a 3.50 ERA, Elder's rebounded from some of his post-ASB struggles with two quality starts in his last three outings. He's only faced Philly once this season, back in June, but it was a gem: seven scoreless innings with three hits and two walks, striking out six. Two of those hits were from outfielder Brandon Marsh, with the third being corner infielder Alec Bohm.

Opposing the Braves is Aaron Nola. 12-9 with a 4.62 ERA, the Phillies starter isn't having the type of year he has in 2022, where he was the 4th place finisher in the Cy Young Award voting for the National League, but Philly's 17-13 in his starts and he's looking to keep his excellence against Atlanta going: Nola's 15-10 with a 3.41 ERA in 32 career games against the Braves. He's faced them twice this season, and it's a profile in extremes. The first outing, May 25th in Atlanta, saw the Braves whack him for five runs on eight hits, including three homers. He rebounded in June with six shutout innings, allowing only two hits and two walks at home, with five strikeouts. The key for Nola will be getting past Ronald Acuña Jr and Austin Riley, who are batting .326 and .438 against him, respectively, with nine combined homers and eighteen RBIs.
