After an incredibly successful West Coast swing, where they went 8-2 against the San Francisco Giants (2-1), Colorado Rockies (3-0), and Los Angeles Dodgers (3-1), the Atlanta Braves finally come back to Truist Park for a six game homestand. Opening that homestand is the St Louis Cardinals. They're not having the season they want, sitting at only 59-78 and seventeen games back in the NL Central. But it's still a dangerous team, with Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt, plus rookie phenoms Jordan Walker and Masyn Winn, and Atlanta's looking to take at least two out of three so that they can clinch the NL East at some point in time next week against the Phillies.

Here's how the Braves will line up for the contest:

Atlanta's giving shortstop Orlando Arcia the day off, with Nicky Lopez starting at shortstop and batting 9th. Sean Murphy is today's catcher, batting 7th.

Pitching Matchup for the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday, September 5th

Starting for the Braves today is Michael Soroka. He's 2-1 with a 5.56 ERA in his six games (five starts) for Atlanta this season. It's his third callup of the season, and outside of those two MLB stints he's 4-4 with a 3.41 ERA for AAA Gwinnett this season, having started seventeen games. 1B Paul Goldschmidt is the only Cardinals player to have MLB at-bats against Soroka, going 2-4 with an RBI in the past, but prospect Masyn Winn was 1-4 with a single against Soroka this season for AAA Memphis.

Facing off against Atlanta is Miles Mikolas. 6-10 with a 4.66 ERA in his league-leading 29 starts, Mikolas has only 112 strikeouts in 164.1 innings, walking 33. Plenty of Braves hitters have had pretty good offensive success at the plate, with Matt Olson (3-6, HR, 3 RBIs), Marcell Ozuna (3-8, 2 HRs, 2 RBIs), and Eddie Rosario (408, HR, RBI) having all taken him deep.
