The Atlanta Braves have not enjoyed hosting the Dodgers in Atlanta. Dropping the first two games of the series, Atlanta's been outscored by nine runs, lost the starts of their two rotation stalwarts (Spencer Strider and Charlie Morton), and perhaps worst of all, been beaten by former Braves. Longtime first baseman Freddie Freeman and former outfielder Jason Heyward have combined to go 6-13 in the series, with two homeruns, three runs, and four RBIs for Los Angeles

Atlanta's sending revelation Bryce Elder (3-0, 2.06 ERA) to the bump Wednesday night to try and salvage the series. He's facing off against Tony Gonsolin (2-1, 1.13 ERA)

Atlanta Braves Lineup for Wednesday, May 24th

Here's how the Braves will line up for tonight's contest:

A day after receiving a day off to clear his head, slumping centerfielder Michael Harris II is back in the lineup, in his customary nine hole. Outside that, it's the standard alignment for Atlanta, with Sean Murphy getting the day off in favor of Travis d'Arnaud behind the plate, still batting 4th.

Atlanta Braves vs Los Angeles Dodgers Pitching Matchup

Bryce Elder takes the mound for Atlanta tonight. He's sporting a National League-leading 2.06 ERA in his nine starts, with forty-five strikeouts to fifteen walks in his 52.1 innings pitched. He's never faced the Dodgers, and only former Marlins SS Miguel Rojas has seen Elder, going 1-5 with an RBI.

Opposing Elder is Tony Gonsolin. "The Cat Man" is 2-1 on the season with a 1.13 ERA (albeit without enough innings to qualify for leaderboards) in his five starts. He's struck out nineteen batters in his twenty-four innings, walking nine, and is familiar to the Braves, having faced them three times before. He's 1-0 in those three regular season meetings, with a 1.15 ERA and ten strikeouts in fifteen and two-thirds innings. No Braves is particularly successful against him, with only Travis d'Arnaud (2-5) having more than one hit against him.
