The Atlanta Braves announced that they've recalled Chadwick Tromp from AAA Gwinnett on social media Sunday morning.

Additionally, LHP Kolby Allard today begins a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett.
By calling up Tromp, Atlanta's preferred third catcher, they're indicating that he's expected to be unavailable for a few days, but not require an IL stint. Per reports, the MRI showed some inflammation of the hamstring, but no significant tear or anything that would require a more intense rehab process.

To make a roster spot for Tromp, Charlie Culberson was designated for assignment. With Atlanta being so settled in their infield (and outfield, too, with the exception of some minor platooning in left field), Culberson had been on the roster for a few weeks but had yet to get into a game since being recalled from Gwinnett.
The Braves hope is that he can clear waivers and remain with the organization, as his defensive versatility is virtually unmatched within the organization and he's incredibly well-liked in the clubhouse.
With the move, Atlanta's bench becomes two catchers (the unavailable Murphy and Tromp) and two outfielders (Sam Hilliard and Kevin Pillar), so it'll be interesting to see what would happen were Atlanta to need to remove an infielder from the game. Eddie Rosario has some time very early in his career in the infield (2nd base), but it's unknown who would backup shortstop were Orlando Arcia to become unavailable.
Additionally, the Braves announced that left-handed pitcher Kolby Allard is set to begin a rehab assignment with AAA Gwinnett. Allard, 25, was a 2015 1st round pick by the Braves out of high school, debuting in 2018 with Atlanta before being moved to Texas for reliever Chris Martin at the 2019 trade deadline. He went 8-22 with a 5.85 ERA for Texas in sixty-two appearances (thirty-four starts) over a four year period before being re-acquired by Atlanta in November 2022 for righthander Jake Odorizzi. He injured his right oblique in March and was put on the 60-day IL.
