The Chicago Cubs nearly had their first win of the season on Opening Day, but now enter Saturday's game with the Texas Rangers hoping to balance their record.

The Cubs (0-1) had the lead in the bottom of the ninth, the result of a missed call at home plate when the umpire failed to realize that pinch-hitter Miles Mastrobuoni fouled off a pitch. The umpire ruled it a passed ball, Rangers catcher Jonah Heim reacted slowly to the play and Michael Busch scored to give Chicago a 3-2 lead.

But, Chicago gave it right back as reliever Adbert Alzolay gave up a game-tying home run to Texas’ Travis Jankowski — just the 11th of his career.

Then, in the 10th inning, the Rangers won the game on Heim’s walk-off hit off Cubs reliever Drew Smyly.

Worse, the Cubs appear likely to lose pitcher Justin Steele for some time after he suffered a hamstring injury while fielding a bunt in the fifth inning.

The Cubs will try to set all of that aside for Game 2 of the series with the Rangers.

Here is the preview for the game, with probable pitchers, starting lineups, how to watch and listen, injury updates and more.
