The Chicago Cubs have announced a roster move ahead of the first game of a three game series with the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.

Outfielder Christopher Morel was recalled to the Major League club and Nelson Velazquez was sent down to Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move.

Morel has been performing well at Triple-A all season, slashing .330/.425/.730 and 11 home runs in 29 games.

It was only a matter of time before Cubs fans saw Morel back up with the club.

Chicago is currently looking for an offensive boost and Morel's hot bat could help kick it into action.

Much like Matt Mervis, not much pressure will be placed on Morel to turn things around. But a big series against the Cardinals looms and any reinforcements could exactly what the club needs.

Monday's game against St. Louis at 6:40 p.m. CT at Wrigley Field. Marcus Stroman will take the mound for the Cubs.
