The D-backs to Debut Serpientes Jersey Tuesday Night for 2024 Debut

After rumored delays in manufacturing, the team is finally wearing their City Connect jerseys for first time in 2024

The Arizona Diamondbacks have been widely praised across the world of MLB for their City Connect jerseys that represent the Sonoran Desert and the Diamondbacks rattlesnake. After they debuted in 2021, they've quickly become one of the fan favorites. The Spanish influence from the Serpientes mixed with the desert sand color and multiple markers that represent Arizona tie many facets of the Valley into one jersey.

Perhaps, it's no surprise then that D-backs fans have been clamoring for the team to wear their City Connect jersey all season. For the past couple of seasons, the D-backs have worn them on every Friday home game. However, multiple Friday home games have come and gone without the team wearing them.

This is despite the fact that the Team Store has been selling Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll Serpientes jerseys all season leading many to wonder if the team was quietly discarding them in advance of what is a highly rumored new City Connect jersey that is set to to debut next year in 2025.

However, according to sources, there was likely a delay in manufacturing that saw the team receive their custom jerseys and Sonoran Sand pants until mid-April. This is the case for multiple other teams such as the Brewers and Rangers who won't receive their jerseys until May. It's also possible that Arizona decided they wanted the new jerseys to be used sooner and delayed the arrival of the Serpientes jerseys to Mid-April to ensure they got their other stock in place first. Or, they wanted to showcase the new jerseys first.

This is speculative but the D-backs no longer have a Teal-Tuesday jersey and are now debuting the Serpientes jersey on a Tuesday. It could be that there is a new day for the team to wear their City Connect jerseys.

Regardless, the team is set to debut their fan-favorite Serpientes Jerseys Tuesday night against the Chicago Cubs. This was confirmed by D-backs Broadcaster Steve Berthiaume who said during the broadcast Monday night that the team was set to debut them Tuesday night. In the team's history of wearing them, they are 19-16 when wearing their City Connect jerseys. The team will hope to win once again while wearing them in a game that they need to win.
