MLB Will Produce Diamondbacks Broadcasts in 2024

MLB will continue to broadcast D-backs games for another season.

Major League Baseball will continue to produce Diamondbacks television broadcasts for the 2024 season. In this article from The Athletic's Evan Drellich, the Diamondbacks, Padres and Rockies will all continue to be broadcasted by MLB in the 2024 season, but their TV rights will be available ahead of 2025.

After Diamond Sports Group, the parent company of Bally Sports Arizona, declared bankruptcy in March 2023 and missed a $30.8 million rights payment to the D-backs. In June, a judge ordered that Diamond Sports pay the team the full amount of money owed. Diamond Sports then filed to reject said contract, and, as a result, MLB officially took over Diamondbacks broadcasts on July 18th, 2023.

This information is passed along as a part of Manfred's desire to develop an MLB streaming package that would provide direct-to-consumer access to games, including in-market ones, as early as the 2025 season. This move would require obtaining broadcast rights away from Regional Sports Networks such as Bally. As of now, MLB will retain Arizona's rights.

As it was during the latter half of the 2023 season, fans with an MLB.tv subscription will be able to watch the D-backs for an additional in-market package of 19.99 per month, whereas out-of-market fans will have access to the broadcasts for free, sans blackouts, with their existing MLB.tv subscription.

The full list of in-market access to D-backs broadcasts can be found here.
