Dodgers' GM 'Wouldn't Be Surprised' if Shortstop Becomes a Manager Someday

The Los Angeles Dodgers are loaded with superstar talent. Big names like Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani, and Freddie Freeman will garner most, if not all, the attention.

Although those three are the main reasons the Dodgers are favorites to win the 2024 World Series, the rest of the team could determine that result. The Boys in Blue are not only talented but also a deep team with many complementary role players.

Role players like Kiké Hernández, Chris Taylor, Gavin Lux, and James Outman will play pivotal roles. However, Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes believes their veteran shortstop Miguel Rojas can play a role in this team and beyond.

Gomes told SportsNet LA during last week's broadcast against the Korean All-Stars that veteran shortstop Miguel Rojas has the makings of a future manager.

“He’s a really bright guy. I wouldn’t be surprised at all. Miggy’s a total pro.”

While Gomes also noted that Rojas "is going to play a ton" off the Dodgers' bench this year, he left the door open for Rojas to play a more significant role on the 2024 team, as well.

"Every time we have an idea of something, we know things happen. It’s a reason to have such a strong bench. … We’re prepared for what happens. Miggy’s going to play regularly. Things could change and he could end up playing more as well."

Rojas is not only a spectacular defender but also an intelligent human being. The 36-year-old has a ton of experience in this league and around the game of baseball. He is respected by his teammates and peers around the league, no matter what certain MLB players may say

Not everyone has a good experience with one person, but Rojas has certainly made an impression on the Dodgers and has fit in seamlessly.

He's certainly made an impression on the Gomes and these current Dodger players, and that's all that matters. If Rojas chooses to, maybe he could run his own team one day.
