Even before the Los Angeles Dodgers even touched down in Camelback Ranch, fans had been clamoring for the team to gives James Outman an actual shot making the big league roster. The Dodgers rookie was actually give the opportunity to suit up last season and stepped up to the plate 13 times. He showed zero fear in the limited opportunities and started off his career with a bang, hitting a home run in his first plate appearance and scoring five more times after that.

Outman's impressive play has continued into Spring Training as he is currently posting a slash line of .400/.480/.800 and has served as a reliable option for LA's coaching staff. This only added fuel to the fire for those who want the 25-year-old on the official roster come the season opener.

Amidst his solid performances, team manager Dave Roberts addressed the elephant in the room of whether or not Outman would make the team in an interview with Jack Harris of Los Angeles Times.

"Is he big-league ready?," said Roberts. "I would say he is. How we shake out, that's a different question. But yeah, he's doing everything he can do."

The Dodgers notably have one of the youngest cultures right now surrounding their team and they head into this season with different options than most years. Unfortunately for Outman, LA will likely prioritize moving up Jason Hayward and Trayce Thompson due to them being able to sign with another team if they get bumped down to the minors again.

In Outman's case, they are able to keep him down and make sure he is still under contract. This could be a blessing in disguise, however, as the young centerfielder would get more reps in the minor leagues and stay ready if a roster spot opens during the season again.

Either way, we will see Outman suit up on the big stage and it could be very soon as long as he stays on this upwards path.
