Iconic LA Columnist Eviscerates Dodgers After 'Latest Postseason Fiasco'

He didn't mince his words at all...

Another year, and another bitter defeat for the Los Angeles Dodgers. LA was swept out of the postseason by the Arizona Diamondbacks, and their long offseason now starts much earlier than anyone would have predicted.

Iconic writer Bill Plaschke of The Los Angeles Times laid into the Dodgers in his most recent piece, and quite frankly, it was deserved.

“For the first time in 17 years, they exited the postseason without winning a game. This is historic. This is hellacious. From first to worst, from 100 to zero, from great to godawful, again and again and again.”

Per Bill Plaschke of The LA Times

While Plaschke has a point, we need to also give credit to Arizona. They beat the Dodgers fair and square, and are looking like a real problem for years to come with their infusion of young talent.

“Last October, it was a first-round humiliation by the San Diego Padres. This October, it is even worse. The Arizona Diamondbacks. The Arizona Diamondbacks? The Arizona Diamondbacks!”

Per Bill Plaschke of The LA Times

But there was also no reason for the Dodgers to lose to the Diamondbacks this postseason. There weren’t many people picking Arizona to win this series, and rightfully so. The Dodgers won 16 more games during the regular season, and it was LA’s series to lose.

And oh boy did they lose it. Not only did they lose, but they never even clocked in for their shifts.

LA came out completely cold on offense, and could never recover from their starting pitchers' ineptitude. But I don’t want to blame the pitching for this series, even if they put the Dodgers into bad spots early in games.

Many will blame Dave Roberts, as that has become all too familiar of a narrative when LA loses. But for all his faults and some questionable decisions in Game 3, Roberts managed a strong series. He put this team in a position to win games.

This series loss is completely on the offense. They never showed up, and it cost this team a prime opportunity. Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman went a combined 1-21 in the series, and when your stars are not performing up to standard, it's hard to win.

Something happens to the Dodgers when the calendar turns to October. It's become a pattern, and something really needs to change this winter, otherwise, they will find themselves in a similar spot next year.

"The definition of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result. This is insane."

Per Bill Plaschke of The LA Times

Plaschke may be so angry because he picked the Dodgers to not only beat the Diamondbacks but to also go on a magical run to win the World Series. It seemingly has become an almost yearly thing for Plaschke to do, but this may have been the last time we see it from him.

“I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever write that about the Dodgers again.”

Per Bill Plaschke of The LA Times

If anything positive comes from this ugly playoff defeat for LA, it’s that fans don’t have to worry about Plaschke jinxing the Dodgers any longer. All kidding aside, this loss isn't on the belief or fandom of Plaschke, it's on something that is deep down within the Dodgers organization.
