In this story:

When J.D. Martinez was activated off the injured list on Friday, it marked the healthiest the Dodgers had been in quite some time. It was actually just the 9th time all season Martinez, Max Muncy, Will Smith, and Miguel Rojas had all been in a lineup together all season.

Outside of Gavin Lux who is out for the season recovering from knee surgery, the position player side of the roster is now at full strength. However, things are still a good bit behind on the pitching side of things.

There are currently 8 pitchers on the IL.

  1. Walker Buehler (60 day)
  2. J.P. Feyereisen (60 day)
  3. Michael Grove (15 day)
  4. Daniel Hudson (60 day)
  5. Jimmy Nelson (15 day)
  6. Ryan Pepiot (60 day)
  7. Alex Reyes (60 day)
  8. Blake Treinen (60 day)

But let's first update on the one pitcher that's sort of in no man's land, Noah Syndergaard. The right hander left his last start after one inning thanks to a cut on his right index finger that started bleeding. He threw 50 pitches at Dodger Stadium with a cover on his finger and by all accounts sounds like he'll be ready to make his next start on Monday.

Treinen, Feyereisen, Reyes Updates

At this point, there are no new updates on Treinen, Feyereisen, or Reyes.

The veteran Treinen is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery and isn't likely to return this season, not that it's out of the question.

Feyereisen could potentially head out on a minor league rehab assignment as soon as August if everything goes according to plan. He's recovering from a shoulder operation of his own.

Reyes told DodgersNation.com back during spring training that a June or July return is what he and the team were targeting. He too is coming back from a shoulder operation.

Hudson, Nelson

As for the tangible updates, on Friday, the team shared that rehabbing relievers Daniel Hudson and Jimmy Nelson won't be rejoining the team anytime soon.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed that Nelson felt something in his surgically repaired elbow and has been shut down indefinitely. Nelson has been recovering from 2021 Tommy John surgery since 2021.

With Hudson, his surgically repaired left knee isn't rebound the way he hoped. He was initially expected to be on the opening day roster with the team but now has no immediate target to return. Roberts said Hudson is "doing everything he can to be ready, but right now the knee just isn't cooperating."

Pepiot, Grove

Ryan Pepiot (oblique) and Michael Grove (groin) are both on the mend with Grove likely being ready to head out on a rehab assignment within the next week or two. As for what comes after that, it's unclear. He was in the starting rotation when he went down with an injury but was just filling in for the since returned Tony Gonsolin.

Walker Buehler

And finally, Roberts said Buehler is expected to be at Dodger Stadium this coming week to continue his recovery from Tommy John surgery. The manager revealed Walker had thrown off a mound. He's a sneaky candidate for a late season return.
