Dodgers Notes: LA Makes MLB History, Gold Glove Catcher Joins the Squad, Mookie Gets More MVP Love

In this story:
It was another good night on Wednesday for your Los Angeles Dodgers, as they hit their way to a 7-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks thanks in part to home runs from Freddie Freeman and Jason Heyward as part of a four-run 3rd inning. Ryan Pepiot had his strongest outing since his return to the Dodgers earlier this month, throwing five innings of two-hit baseball to get the victory.
Wednesday win was the team's seventh in their past eight games, and their incredibly hot August put the franchise into the history books. It was another quality night's work for Mookie Betts -- he went 2-for-4 in the victory -- and he continues to get more MVP talk in arguably a career-best year for him.

He just missed a three-run home run in his first at-bat. He didn't miss this one.
The Dodgers lead 4-0. Heyward now has 13 home runs and an OPS of .830 this season.

Matt Wagner was born and raised in southern California, and he lived there before moving to Colorado and getting his B.A. in Communications from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2022. He relocated back to southern California in 2023 and is looking forward to covering the teams that mean so much to his home area. Some of his past work is in Bleacher Report, Dodgers Tailgate, and, most recently, Colorado Buffaloes Wire. Aside from writing, you can probably catch him petting the nearest dog or eating some good Mexican food.
