Dodgers Rumors: Writing Could Be On the Wall for Trayce Thompson Following Latest LA Transaction

In this story:
Trayce Thompson was the walk off hero in Monday night's game. Literally... he walked with the bases loaded to win it. It was a much needed win for him personally amid an 0-27 stretch. He also got picked off one inning earlier, adding to the mounting issues for the veteran outfielder that's honestly living on borrowed time with this Dodgers roster.
And, over the weekend, the Dodgers organization reportedly did something that should have him looking over his shoulder with concern. They promoted two outfield prospects to Triple-A Oklahoma City, Andy Pages and Jonny DeLuca.

Both players are off to nice starts to their season with Pages -- LA's number 6 prospect -- posting an OPS of .925 in 33 games, and DeLuca -- number 20 prospect -- with an OPS of .971.

Both had OPS of at least .925 and wRC+ of at least 144 at Tulsa, and both were added to the #Dodgers 40-man roster this offseason.
Where Thompson needs to worry is that both prospects are right-handed batters and have a good track record of success versus left-handed pitching.
The Dodgers have been stubborn with their insistence on Trayce Thompson starting against LHPs. He's 2-33 against southpaws this season. That's a .061 batting average. He has one home run and that came in his first at-bat of the season off a guy that can't get a job in the big leagues right now. He's hit .194 in his career against lefties.
On Monday night, manager Dave Roberts tripled down on the game plan with Thompson... he'll keep running out there against left-handers. That's his role.
"The truth is, he's great on the team, but he has a certain role on our ball club. And we're giving him as much leash and opportunity as we can to fill that role and he's doing everything he can to this ball club."
Thompson is one of the good people in the game and an important piece in the clubhouse chemistry. No one wants more for him than those 25 other guys in the room with him. But, at some point baseball is kind of a what have you done for me lately job.
And DeLuca and Pages are doing things down in the minor leagues. Both players are already on the 40-man roster as well.
