The Dodgers priority this offseason is to upgrade their starting pitching one way or another. They will be looking at both the trade market and free agency, as they build everything out.

LA has been connected with all sorts of names already this offseason, some of which most wouldn’t even think of. And you can add another to the list as MLB writer Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report has linked the Dodgers to seven-time All-Star Chris Sale as an option for the team next season.

“They could also go back to the well in Boston where they found Mookie Betts and David Price and try to get Chris Sale. He does have a full no-trade clause as well as quite the lengthy injury history, but he pitched reasonably well this past season”

Per Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report

In 20 games pitched this past season, Sale posted an ERA of 4.30 and a WHIP of 1.13. He also struck out 125 batters over 102.2 innings of work this year.

Sale made his full return to baseball after dealing with a multitude of injuries in previous seasons, and it saw him return to form. For him, it was just nice to get back on the mound and get back to doing what he does best.

While the ERA wasn’t great, Sale did have a solid last part of the year for the Red Sox. In seven of his last nine starts, Sale only allowed more than three runs one time, showing that he could still perform at a high level.

After this season, he has one more year left on his deal and it is a club option for $20 million. So, if the Dodgers were to acquire him, they could see how he performed this year, and cut bait afterward if they didn't like what they saw.

Sale could be a solid back-of-the-rotation starter for the Dodgers, and he would provide them with a good left-hander pitcher. LA could get an additional asset from Boston in a deal for taking on his salary as well. This is an intriguing option and something that the Dodgers should look into this winter.
