Guardians, Twins Series Finale Postponed

The Cleveland Guardians will play a doubleheader on August 9 starting at 2:10 pm EST.

The Cleveland Guardians showed up at the ballpark on Sunday morning with a chance to sweep their division rival Minnesota Twins. However, that’s going to have to wait.

The series finale was postponed due to inclement weather and the game will be made up on Friday, August 9 as part of a doubleheader starting at 2:10 pm EST. For those Guardians fans who did make the trip up to Minneapolis for the game, their tickets for the originally scheduled April 7 game will be accepted. Fans can also explore refund or exchange options.

The forecast showed nothing but rain for this afternoon so delaying the game early in the day until later in the season was definitely the correct call to make.

This rainout does force the team to make a few adjustments for their next series against the Chicago White Sox.

Shane Bieber was initially going to be Cleveland’s home opening starter. However, his recent devastating injury news pushed Logan Allen into that role. Now that the Guardians aren’t playing on Sunday, Triston McKenzie will start the Guardians' first home game of the 2024 season. He was in line to be the starter in Minnesota so the Guardians just pushed every pitcher up one day.

With the rainout, the Guardians officially end their first lengthy road trip of the season. They’ll be coming back to Progressive Field with a 7-2 record and at the top of the American League Central. All in all, this was deftly a successful way to start the season and there’s a lot to be excited about in the coming months.
