Jose Ramirez Passes Albert Belle On Cleveland's RBI Leaderboard

Cleveland Guardians: Jose Ramirez recorded his 752nd career RBI, passing franchise legend Albert Belle.

Jose Ramirez has solidified himself as one of the best players in Cleveland's baseball history. But before hitting home run pitch after home run pitch, Albert Belle was driving in runs and was the face of the legendary teams of the 90s.

Belle’s play on the field and personality made him a fan-favorite in the city and one who is still talked about today. That’s why what Ramirez did on Wednesday afternoon holds so much weight in the hearts of Cleveland baseball fans.

J-Ram entered the day two RBI short of passing Belle on the franchise’s all-time leaders list. The Guardians jumped all over Seattle Mariners starter George Kirby and recorded eight earned runs off of him. Ramirez was responsible for two of those which officially pushed him past Belle for 10th (752+) on Cleveland’s all-time leaderboard.

Ramirez found out about this achievement after the game and has this to say about it.

“I thank God for that, but also for my hard work. I don’t focus too much on the records. But my focus is to just play the game the right way and do better every day.”

Jose may have downplayed the accomplishment a little bit. However, it’s this determined mindset that is what got him to this point in the first place.

Ramirez is in his 12 season playing in Cleveland. He signed a contract extension that theoretically should end his career in a Guardians uniform. He’s only going to break more franchise records before it’s all said and done and it’s going to be so much fun to watch!
