Indians get 10th straight win; three takeaways

The Indians keep rolling after beating the Tigers once again, 5-2, on Saturday night. The win marks the 10th straight for the Tribe, who will be looking to sweep Detroit tomorrow afternoon.

Cleveland once again received a strong outing from Corey Kluber, and the bats were definitely alive tonight starting in the first inning.

Here are the three takeaways from tonight's win.

1. First inning attack
The Indians did most of the damage in the first inning, scoring four runs against Detriot's starter Jordan Zimmerman.

Things got started when Jose Ramirez tripled to right to score Bradley Zimmer, who also tripled in the previous at-bat.

The next batter, Edwin Encarnacion, singled for a RBI to make it 2-0. Finally, Abraham Almonte brought Encarnacion and Santana home thanks to his two-run single.

In the first inning, the Tribe also recorded six hits, and had 10 by the time the third inning was over. They ended the evening with 14 hits, and went 4-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

2. Kluber's outing

Indians ace Corey Kluber took the bump for the Tribe as he pitched eight strong innings, giving up two runs and striking out seven.

Kluber gave up just one run tonight, thanks to Brian Holiday RBI in the seventh inning.

Kluber's biggest strength of the evening, was probably getting the Tigers lineup to chase a lot of low curveballs and changeups to expand the strikezone:

3. What's next?

With the win, the Indians won their 10th straight game of the year, meaning we are currently in the middle of their longest streak of the year. They previously won nine in a row in late July.

Tomorrow, they will go for win number 11, and they will also be looking to sweep the Tigers. Starter Josh Tomlin will make his return coming off the disabled list. The Tigers will have Chad Bell on the hill.

The Tribe will be looking for their third straight sweep before heading out to Chicago.
