MLB Players Share Thoughts About Guardians’ New Manager Hire

Current MLB infielder Ernie Clement and former Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Dallas Braden shared some positive thoughts about Cleveland hiring Stephen Vogt as its new manager.

As reported earlier today, the Cleveland Guardians hired Stephen Vogt as their 45th manager in franchise history.

This is a momentous occasion in Cleveland Baseball history, as the 39-year-old, who has yet to serve as a professional manager, is replacing longtime Guardians and future Hall-of-Fame manager Terry Francona.

Two MLB players have shared their thoughts on Cleveland’s managerial hire.

One of these players is former Guardians infielder Ernie Clement. He played two seasons with Cleveland, hitting .214 with 57 hits, three home runs, 15 RBI, and seven doubles in 103 games.

While the 27-year-old played just six games with the Oakland Athletics in 2022, he was teammates with Vogt for the now-Guardians manager’s final stretch of his career. On X, Clement had just three words to say about Cleveland’s hire:

It seems like Vogt made quite the impression on Clement, especially considering the fact that they were teammates for less than 10 games.

Another MLB player who shared his thoughts is former Oakland starting pitcher Dallas Braden. He played all five of his Major League seasons with the A’s, going 26-36 with a 4.16 ERA, 305 strikeouts, 1.32 WHIP, and .269 opposing batting average.

Braden is best known for throwing the 19th perfect game in MLB history on Mother’s Day in 2010.

The current A’s broadcaster had just five words to say about the Guardians’ new manager:

Braden also praised the longtime catcher Vogt’s work ethic by posting a video of him blocking balls before his final MLB game.

Guardians fans are hoping that these positive thoughts will continue with Cleveland and translate into success starting next season.
