2024 Guardians Spring Training Players Of The Game: Game 8

Cleveland's Angel Martínez, Daniel Schneemann, Emmanuel Clase, and Nick Sandlin each had a productive performance in the team's 13-12 loss to the Kansas City Royals.

The Cleveland Guardians suffered their sixth 2024 Cactus League loss with a 13-12 defeat to the Kansas City Royals yesterday afternoon.

With 90 players representing the Guardians during spring training (40-man roster, 22 non-roster invitees, and 28 depth camp players), each game’s roster will vary.

Based on Cleveland’s roster for yesterday’s game and their performances in the contest, here are four Players of the Game.

Angel Martínez, 2B

Cleveland’s sixth-ranked prospect continued his impressive spring with another strong game.

The 22-year-old went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the first inning, a two-out, game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the third inning, and a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Martínez is hitting .636 with seven hits, one double, two home runs, five RBI, and a 1.888 OPS in six games so far this spring.
