Baltimore Orioles Prospects Putting Extreme Pressure On Front Office

With the way the Baltimore Orioles' top prospects have been performing at Triple-A, they are putting a lot of pressure on the front office to make roster decisions.

In this story:

Entering Spring Training this year, there was some thought that the Baltimore Orioles' roster might look a bit different than it has over the years as many of their top prospects seemed ready to make the jump to Major League Baseball.

The decision making process between the front office and coaching staff to decide what the final roster would be took much longer than many clubs around the league.

They gave players as much time as possible to make their case to being included for Opening Day.

Ultimately, the roster looked very similar to 2023 with only top prospect Colton Cowser getting the nod after he replaced Ryan McKenna.

However, based on how their young stars have been performing in Triple-A, they are putting some major pressure on the front office when it comes to roster decisions.

That was punctuated by their eruption on April 3 when they scored 26 runs.

No. 4 prospect Heston Kjerstad made history with his performance, Kyle Stowers had three homers and drove in seven runs, No. 3 prospect Coby Mayo had three singles, a double and triple, and the No. 1 prospect in all of baseball, Jackson Holliday, scored five runs, had four hits, with two of them being doubles, while also drawing two walks and having two RBI.

It was a completely dominant showing and has Orioles fans wondering when they might see these players in the bigs.

The roster issue comes from Baltimore being really good, deep, and talented.

There aren't a whole lot of reasons for the organization to make moves right now. They're 4-2 with 36 runs scored, and they're getting production from almost everyone in the lineup.

This isn't an Orioles team from the past. This team is ready to compete for division and World Series titles.

Maybe if some of these prospects were called up it would give them a better chance, but it doesn't seem like Baltimore is ready to make that move yet.

One thing is for certain, if these Triple-A players continue to perform like they have to start 2024, then they are going to make it extremely difficult for the organization to not give them a shot at the MLB.
