Could Philadelphia Phillies Trade For Juan Soto?

The Philadelphia Phillies could make a run at the San Diego Padres superstar if he becomes available in trade discussions this offseason.

The Philadelphia Phillies have plenty of decisions to a make when the offseason begins. Two of their homegrown talents, Aaron Nolan and Rhys Hoskins, are hitting free agency with one of them seemingly gone.

Who the Phillies ultimately decide to re-sign will ultimately come down to where they think the team is the weakest.

Another possibility for the front office this offseason is making a blockbuster deal for Juan Soto.

"He may find himself in trade discussions this offseason heading into his final season before free agency," Chris Kirschner from The Athletic writes.

The possibility that one of the best young stars in the league could potentially be available, plenty of teams will have interest in seeing what it would take to land Soto.

Philadelphia should be one of those teams.

The 24-year-old has a ton of connections to this current Phillies team. He was teammates with Trea Turner and Bryce Harper during his Washington Nationals' tenure. Former hitting coach of the Nationals, Kevin Long, is also with Philadelphia now.

Earlier in the year, it seemed unlikely that the San Diego Padres would be willing to part ways with Soto since they gave up a king's ransom to get him.

However, a bombshell report coming out about the culture surrounding the franchise, written by Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune, could change things.

The Phillies have a pipeline full of promising young talent that could be used to get the Padres to ship out their star before he hits free agency.

Soto would increase the defense of the outfield if Harper is only able to play first base going forward. He would also add another big left handed bat to the lineup and is a wizard at getting on base.

Philadelphia's front office should at least do their due diligence to see what it would take to get one of the game's young superstar's onto their team
