Philadelphia Phillies Announce Another Roster Change Ahead of Sunday Matchup With Rockies
The Philadelphia Phillies have announced another roster move ahead of their Sunday matchup with the Colorado Rockies at Citizens Bank Park.
The Phillies have recalled right-handed pitcher Yunior Marte from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and in a corresponding move have optioned starter Cristopher Sanchez.
Sanchez was recalled for yesterday's game as the team was in need of a temporary sixth starter after a doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox earlier in the week.
The southpaw pitched 4.1 innings and gave up three earned runs while striking out five. He out his team in position to win 4-3.
Marte was optioned earlier this month after consecutive rough outings. Marte had allowed six runs in just two outings while only recording three outs. During Spring Training Marte was considered the next "hidden gem" that Philadelphia may have unearthed.
He will get another chance to showcase his stuff at the MLB level after having spent the last three weeks in the minor leagues.
