Philadelphia Phillies Will Not Place Harper On 60-Day Injured List

In what is seen as a huge decision, the Philadelphia Phillies have decided not to place Bryce Harper on the 60-day injured list, which means he could return earlier than expected.

The Philadelphia Phillies are not closing the door on Bryce Harper returning early, potentially even before May 29. Phillies President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski spoke on 94WIP on Tuesday morning about their plans with Harper going forward.

Dombrowski said that they will not place Harper on the 60-day injured list, for now.

That opens up the door for Harper to return earlier than the original late June-July timeframe. However, it doesn't free up an extra spot on the 40-man roster, which could put someone's, say Noah Song's, spot on the roster in jeopardy.

All of this doesn't mean that if Harper starts to regress in his recovery that he can't then be placed on the injured list.

But for now, it keeps the door open for any and all possibilities for Harper's return.
