The Philadelphia Phillies were without Bryce Harper on Tuesday night against the New York Mets. This came after an off day on Monday, Memorial Day, in which the team did not take the field.

his absence prompted many to think he could have suffered an injury or suffered a setback. However, Phillies manager Rob Thomson put any fears to ret pregame against the Mets.

According to Thomson, Harper was just getting a day off and some rest.

It was a scheduled off day as Harper has played everyday since May 2, his return, and this allowed him to get two days of consecutive rest.

Harper sitting was nothing but normal and should not be taken as if he were injured or sick.

Philadelphia is prioritizing Harper's health and this off day will allow them to do just that.

Harper is slashing .306/.406./482.

Philadelphia will face the Mets once again on Wednesday.
