Philadelphia Phillies Claim Infielder Off Waivers From Yankees to Fill Roster

In this story:
There is a lot of speculation surrounding the Philadelphia Phillies about how they will go about the remainder of their offseason.
After getting Aaron Nola back, they have not made a major move.
The Phillies continue to be connected to some of the biggest names that are on the market, with them being mentioned as a team who could pounce if the price tags of these players crumble.
Cody Bellinger was one of those names, but it seems unlikely he would be a fit with how the roster is currently constructed.
While the big players were being discussed, Philadelphia added infielder Diego Castillo after claiming him off waivers from the New York Yankees according to their own social media page.
The 26-year-old has been moved around quite a bit this winter after being designated for assignment, claimed, and then designated for assignment again.
Castillo got his first Major League experience with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2022 when he played 96 games and slashed .206/.251/.382 with 11 home runs and 29 RBI.
He was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks ahead of last season, but only appeared in one MLB game for them.
The Diamondbacks DFA'd him and he was claimed by the New York Mets before they DFA'd him following their signing of Sean Manaea. The Yankees then claimed him, but DFA'd him 10 days later.
Now, the Phillies have added him to their 40-man roster, filling it entirely. If Philadelphia were to make another move this offseason, then they would need to make a subsequent move to clear space for their addition.
Castillo could find himself still with the organization as a depth piece in Triple-A to have on standby in case of injury if the front office doesn't pursue another free agent.
