Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy is now No. 10 all-time in managerial wins after the 12-3 blowout over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday at Globe Life Field.

With the victory, Bochy won the 2,041st win of his career, passing Walter Alston. Bochy tied Alston on Saturday when the Rangers beat the Mariners 16-6.

Alston managed the Dodgers both in Brooklyn and Los Angeles from 1954-76, where he won 2,040 games and presided over four World Series titles in 1955, '59, '63 and '65.

Bochy talked about Alston after tying him on Saturday afternoon.

“Walter Alston, this is a guy I saw in Spring Training when I lived in Melbourne when he was managing (the Dodgers),” Bochy said. “I skipped school to watch the Dodgers. Fans would leave their seats behind the dugout and we would get kicked out.

“I revere him so much. It’s humbling. To be with this club and for this to happen I told (the players) that I appreciate them and how much fun I’m having.”

Bochy, who is in his first season with the Rangers, entered the season with 2,003 wins from his 25 seasons with the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants. He led the Giants to three World Series titles.

During his final season with the Giants, he became the 12th manager in history to reach 2,000 wins.

Bochy started his career with San Diego in 1995, replacing Jim Riggleman. Bochy won 951 games with the Padres between 1995-2006, which included four National League West titles and a trip to the 1998 World Series. The Padres lost to the New York Yankees.

Bochy moved to San Francisco for the 2007 season and remained there until 2019. With the Giants, he led them to two NL West titles, four playoff appearances and three World Series titles in 2010, '12 and '14. The first championship came at the expense of the Rangers.

He won 1,052 games with the Giants before he stepped away from the job.

Bochy is No. 2 among active managers in victories behind the Houston Astros’ Dusty Baker, who is No. 9 in all-time wins.

The managers ahead of Bochy are Connie Mack (3,731), Tony LaRussa (2,846), John McGraw (2,763), Bobby Cox (2,504), Joe Torre (2,326), Sparky Anderson (2,194), Bucky Harris (2,158), Baker (2,128) and Joe McCarthy (2,125).

Baker is the only other manager on the list that is active. The Astros lost to the Los Angeles Angels 2-1, on Sunday.
