Watch: Globe Life Field Roof Opens Before Texas Rangers, Royals Game

In this story:
ARLINGTON, Texas – The retractable roof to Globe Life Field opened up about 30 minutes before Monday night’s Texas Rangers homestand opener against the Kansas City Royals.
The Rangers were taking advantage of the near perfect conditions in the Metroplex, with sunny skies over the stadium. The teams took their warmups with the roof closed.
Texas comes into the game 2-0 with the roof open this season. The Rangers are 15-20 all-time exposed to the elements since moving to Globe Life Field in 2020, with 16 of those games coming before March 1 on the calendar.
After initially being open, the roof was closed on Opening Day in the fourth inning due to rain in the area.
The Rangers (5-4) snapped a two-game losing streak with Sunday’s 8-2 win at the Chicago Cubs. Texas is 4-2 at home this season, sweeping the Philadelphia Phillies to open the season before losing two of three to the Baltimore Orioles.
Andrew Heaney (0-1) was headed to the hill for Texas. The former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher was roughed up in this only outing of the season against the Orioles on April 4, giving up seven runs and getting only eight outs.
