Mariners Reportedly Sign Ex-Red Sox Hurler In Attempt To Revive Career, Make It Back To MLB

Seattle reportedly signed a former member of the Red Sox

The Seattle Mariners reportedly are bringing in a former member of the Boston Red Sox.

Seattle reportedly signed former Red Sox hurler Kyle Hart to a minor league contract recently, according to the MLB transaction log.

Hart was drafted by Boston in the 19th round of the 2016 MLB June Amateur Draft and worked his way up the Red Sox's farm system. The 30-year-old made his MLB debut in 2020 and made four appearances with the big league club during the COVID-19-shortened 60-game season. In four appearances, including three starts, Hart struggled pitching to a 15.55 ERA while allowing 19 runs across 11 innings pitched.

The 30-year-old has spent the majority of his career in the minor leagues and has looked solid at times. In seven minor league seasons, Hart has compiled a 3.60 ERA in 125 appearances including 101 starts. The tall lefty has struck out 533 batters in 613 1/3 innings pitched as well at the minor league level.

Hart signed with the Philadelphia Phillies ahead of the 2023 season to a minor-league contract and made one appearance with the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs and made just one appearance before being released. In his one appearance with the IronPigs, Hart didn't allow a hit or run in one inning pitched.

The 30-year-old will join the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers in an attempt to make his way back to the big leagues. Hart has been a starter throughout his career but also has spent some time in the bullpen. There's no way to know what role Hart will play with Seattle, but the club has one of the strongest bullpens in all of baseball with the ninth-best ERA at 3.68. If Hart wants to make his way back to the big leagues the easiest way likely would be in the bullpen, but there's no way for sure to know what role he will play.

Hopefully he is able to shine at the Triple-A level and make his way back to the big leagues.
