Two Offseason Signings For Red Sox Already Received American League Recognition

A strong start to the season for two new faces in Boston

The Boston Red Sox are starting to garner national praise for their unexpected surge to start the month.

Red Sox outfielder Masataka Yoshida is the latest recipient of the American League Player of the Week. The breakout Japanese star helped push the Red Sox to the fourth-best record in the AL. 

Yoshida hit .480 with two home runs, eight RBIs, a .800 slugging percentage and extended his hit streak to 15 games during the six-game span. He currently has the longest active hitting streak in the majors. 

Yoshida is the second member of the Red Sox to be named AL Player of the Week this season. The first was fellow outfielder Adam Duvall who won in the first week of the season. 

Duvall posted a .571 batting average, knocked in eight RBIs with eight hits and two home runs during a three-game stretch to open the season.

Duvall has been sidelined with a wrist fracture since early April, but is making strides towards a return as he recently dropped the cast and is now in a brace. 

It’s been a promising start to the season thus far not just for Boston’s offseason signings but the club as a whole as they have a 21-15 record.
