Derek Johnson Shares Update on Tejay Antone

In this story:
The Reds organization seems to still have faith in reliever Tejay Antone.
Pitching coach Derek Johnson expressed confidence in the often injured, but talented reliever.
“If Tejay is healthy, Tejay will pitch," Johnson said. "I mean he’s proven at every single time he’s been in the big leagues he’s been effective if not elite in some cases. So for us, it’s if we can get Tejay to stay healthy all the way through this thing like he’s going to be a big part of this club, and to me it’s really as simple as that.”
Antone was a fifth-round draft pick in 2014. He only participated in five games throughout the 2023 season, pitching 5.2 innings.
Antone has appeared in 41 career games and has posted a 2.41 ERA in 74.1 innings with 94 strikeouts.
He's battled multiple injuries throughout his career, including two Tommy John Surgeries. Hopefully he can bounce back and help the Reds make a playoff run this season.
