Rockies Activate Kyle Karros and Option Adael Amador to Triple-A

In this story:
The Colorado Rockies are getting set to host the Cleveland Guardians for a weekend series at Coors Field and are getting good news ahead of said series.
They activated Kyle Karros off of injured reserve after being out with a concussion and sent Adael Amador back to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The Rockies' third baseman was putting up solid numbers before he got dinged up with a concussion and had to be put on the injured list. Karros was slugging .265/.361/.424 which is good for an OPS of .785 so far on the season for the youngster.
Not bad numbers for a guy that made his MLB debut this season and is doing his best to impress manager Warren Schaeffer and the rest of the Rockies staff. And activating Karros comes at a good time after getting swept in their latest series with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Amador has a lot to be proud of in his first 2026 stint with the Rockies

This is not going to be the end for the youngster despite getting optioned back to Triple-A. Somebody had to be a roster casualty and knowing that the Rockies had a guy to replace him since Karros was not going to be out long, it unfortunately had to be Amador that was sent packing.
And despite Amador only getting into five games for Colorado, he certainly made a good impression on Schaeffer and staff. Amador slashed .300/.462/.700 which is good for an OPS of .1.162.
It is a very small sample size for Amador since he did not get into a ton of games for the Rockies before being optioned back down to the Isotopes. But the fact that he put up those types of numbers in a small amount of games, speaks volumes to how he took advantage of the opportunity he had.
Amador is only 23 years old and plays a premium position in the infield for the Rockies. Guys that play those premium positions and put up good numbers in a small sample size can really break out when they are given a chance.
Amador is going to be back with the Rockies likely before the season comes to a close since rosters expand in September. He should definitely be on the taxi squad or rotated in games or put in the lineup every now and then to showcase his abilities for next season.
