The Dodgers just announced their opening day starter Clayton Kershaw is out. Kershaw has been placed on the injured list with back stiffness just hours before he was set to take the field against the San Francisco Giants.

Kershaw was planning to make his franchise-record 9th opening day start but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he hurt his back in the weight room on Tuesday.

The left-handed pitcher went to Dodger Stadium Thursday for treatment before the game but the club decided to place him on the injured list. The team does not have a time table for his return.
