For the first time since 2001, the Atlanta Braves are on their way to the National League Championship Series. The Braves completed their 2nd consecutive postseason sweep after defeating the Marlins 7-0 in Game 3 on Thursday.

This loss for Miami is the first time that the Marlins have ever lost a playoff series. Their previous two trips to the postseason resulted in World Series titles in 1997 and 2003. The Braves started the series trailing the Marlins 4-1 but, since then, outscored Miami by 17. Dansby Swanson and Travis D'Arnaud led the Braves this series but Atlanta also had a dominating pitching performance.

The Braves came into the postseason with the worst starting ERA of any team in history, but in 49 postseason innings, they only allowed runs in 3 of them. Atlanta also became the only team in history to throw back-to-back shutouts twice in the same postseason. The Braves will now advance to MLB’s final four and await the Dodgers or the Padres.
