Nike has terminated the contract of UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, Jones announced Tuesday and ESPN's Darren Rovell confirmed Wednesday.

Jones was involved in a brawl with fellow fighter Daniel Cormier on-stage at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas in August.

He appeared before the Nevada Athletic Commission on Tuesday and was fined $50,000, and said the brawl is what cost him his Nike contract, according to FOX Sports

Jones signed with Nike in 2012. He did not say how much his contract was worth, besides it being six figures.

Nike has now terminated contracts with three athletes in the last 15 days, and suspended its contract with another. Jones joins sprinter Oscar Pistorius, who was recently found guilty of culpable homicide, and former Ravens running back Ray Rice, who video showed punching his then-fiancée, as athletes who've been dropped by Nike.

Nike also recently suspended its contract with Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who was indicted on child injury charges.
