2015 world championships awarded to Las Vegas

USA Wrestling says the 2015 world championships will be held in Las Vegas.

The organization announced Tuesday that FILA, the international wrestling federation, has picked Las Vegas to host the championships at Orleans Arena in September 2015.

The event will be the first qualifying event for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. It will feature competition in men's and women's freestyle and Greco-Roman and will award the largest number of 2016 Olympic spots of any meet.

The U.S. has hosted the world championships five times before, most recently in New York City in 2003.
