U.S. gymnast Sam Mikulak rallied on Sunday to win the P&G Gymnastics Championships in Pittsburgh.

The 21-year-old from Southern California edged 2012 Olympic teammate John Orozco with a score of 180.650 to Orozco's 180.200. In doing so, he now becomes the first U.S. male to repeat as all-around champion since 2009-'10 when Jonathan Horton accomplished the feat.

It was a narrow victory for Mikulak; going into the 12th and final round, he was separated by just 1.55 points from Orozco and their other fellow 2012 Olympian Jake Dalton.

Mikulak's U.S. title comes just four months after he finished his college gymnastics career at Michigan with a seventh individual title. He said his plan now is to return to Michigan to finish up a final year of classes and will plan to train there for a year following graduation.
