. Tanner Erisman
Washington Boro, Pa. > Football
Tanner, a senior quarterback at Penn Manor High, threw for 192 yards and two scores and added a 13-yard rushing TD in a 27-20 win over Cedar Cliff High at the Global Ireland Football Tournament in Dublin. Last year he rallied the Comets from 21 points down to beat Cedar Cliff 35-34 in the 4A District 3 playoffs first round before losing in the quarterfinals.
. Destiny Collins
Temecula, Calif. > Cross-country
Destiny, a junior at Great Oak High, won the three-mile Seaside Invitational at San Buenaventura State Beach in a course record of 15:58.3. Last year she won the CIF Southern Section title and was third in Division 1, leading the Wolfpack to the state crown. Destiny also won Section track titles in the 1,600- and 3,200-meters in May.
. Jake LaPutka
Eugene, Ore. > Disc Golf
LaPutka, a junior at Oregon, where he competes for the UO Disc Golf Club, won the advanced men’s division of the Professional Disc Golf Association Amateur World Championships in St. Paul. He carded a 27 in the final at Como Park for an eight-round total of 402 (51 under), beating out a field of 273 over eight courses.
. Saitaua Iosia
Long Beach, Calif. > Volleyball
A senior outside hitter at Towson, Iosia was named MVP of the Towson Invitational with 43 kills, eight aces and 34 digs in three matches. She had double doubles in a 3-1 win over Coppin State (10 kills, 16 digs) and in a 3-0 victory over La Salle (19 and 10). She also had 14 kills in a 3-0 defeat of St. Peter’s. Iosia leads the CAA conference in kills and aces per set.
. Noah Lyles
Alexandria, Va. > Track and Field
Brothers Noah and Josephus (below), juniors at T.C. Williams High, each took gold in international events this summer. Noah, the national sophomore record holder in the indoor and outdoor 200-meters, won the 200 at the World Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China (20.80); Josephus, the 400 junior national titlist, led off the U.S.’s first-place 4 x 400 relay team at world juniors in Eugene, Ore. (3:03.51).
