Report: Italy discussing 2024 Summer Olympics bid

Italian Olympic Committee president Giovanni Malago met with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi in Rome to discuss a potential bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics, Steve Wilson of the Associated Press reports. Italy last hosted the summer games in 1960 when they were held in Rome. Italy hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino. Wilson also reported France is planning crowd funding to finance a potential bid to hold the 2024 games in Paris instead.  In the United States, Washington, D.C. has a campaign to host the games, Boston is going to make a run at hosting and the bay area, led by San Francisco Giants president Larry Baer, is also planning a bid. On December 6, Germany will decide if it will bid on the Olympics. If they do decide to go through with it, they will also have to decide if they want the games to take place in Berlin or Hamburg. The bidding process for the 2024 Olympics will begin in 2015 and the host city will be selected in 2017.
