WWE developmental trainer Bill DeMott announced he has resigned over allegations he abused wrestlers.

DeMott said Friday that while he denies the allegations, he is leaving his role "to avoid any embarrassment or damage to the WWE."

A 2013 letter from former NXT wrestler Austin Matelson sent to WWE employees Canyon Ceman, Jane Geddes, and Dorothy Brill surfaced on Reddit this week. The letter accused DeMott of physical injury due to "imprudent coaching," creating an unprofessional work environment, offensive language and other things.

The WWE released a statement to PWinsider.com on Tuesday, saying it took Matelson's accusations "very seriously" and conducted a full investigation but were "unable to validate the claims."
