Lauren Hill honored at ESPYS with Best Moment award

The late Lauren Hill was honored at the ESPYS Wednesday night in Los Angeles as the recipient of ESPN’s Best Moment award.

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry introduced Hill before a touching video tribute aired. The tribute can be seen below.

Hill died in April at age 19 after a lengthy battle with terminal brain cancer. As a freshman forward at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Hill achieved her dream of playing college basketball when she took the court in November.

Curry called Hill’s parents, Brent and Lisa, up to the stage to accept her award. Hill’s work to bring awareness to Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma was highlighted in the presentation.

“Some days I have really good days and some days I get really emotional but I think for Lauren she started a mission and she wanted to be the voice for the kids and I just have to keep reminding myself that we are her voice,” Lisa Hill told ForTheWin.com earlier this week.

“We can’t save Lauren anymore because there wasn’t a drug or any good treatments but we can maybe someday save another family, another child from going through the same thing we did because it’s not acceptable. It’s really not acceptable.”
