Dwayne Johnson named People's Sexiest Man Alive
Actor Dwayne Johnson was named People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" for this year, the magazine announced Tuesday.
Former English soccer player David Beckham was last year's recipient.
Johnson, 44, played college football at the University of Miami, but is known to most fans as The Rock during his stint as a professional wrestler with the WWE and his action movies.
“I said, ‘That’s awesome.’ And then what went through my mind was just how cool and exciting it is,” Johnson told People. “And then I thought, ‘Wow, we’ve pretty much reached the pinnacle.’ I’m not quite too sure where we go from here. I’ve done it all, this is it.”
Johnson says he expects some teasing from his male friends about the honor, which People Magazine has given out since 1985.
“It’s coming now, I can just imagine how it’s going to be,” Johnson said. “But see, here’s the thing, they give me grief, but they all wish. They all wish.”
Next year Johnson will appear in Fast 8, set for release April 14, Baywatch on May 19 and the remake of Jumanji, which hits theaters in December 2017.
This year’s "Sexiest Man Alive" issue hits newsstands Friday.
