USA Gymnastics has suspended former Olympic coach Maggie Haney for eight years for verbal and emotional abuse of athletes. An independent panel made of up three individuals including: a former athletes, an attorney and a club owner had come to the conclusion that Haney had failed to provide a safe environment for athletes. Haney allegedly had been seen taunting, bullying, fat-shaming kids as young as 10-years-old. SI’s legal analyst Michael McCann tells Robin Lundberg Haney’s lengthy suspension is a sign of the times and shows that style of coaching will not be tolerated.
