Magic rookie guard Victor Oladipo rose high to block Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony at the rim during New York's 121-83 blowout victory at Madison Square Garden on Friday.

It might have come in a losing effort, but the No. 2 pick in the 2013 draft just put himself in the "Block of the Year" conversation after previously submitting a "Dunk of the Year" candidate against the Hawks.

The 6-foot-5 Oladipo rejected the 6-foot-8 Anthony less than four minutes into the game with Orlando leading 12-5. Anthony drove down the middle of the paint past Arron Afflalo and gathered off two feet in an attempt to throw down with both hands. Oladipo challenged the play from the baseline, getting his right hand in front of the rim to push back the slam attempt. Oladipo was able to get the block without fouling during the deflection or on the follow-through, no easy task.

Oladipo finished with 17 points (on 5-for-13 shooting), nine rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 40 minutes. Afflalo had a team-high 20 points for the Magic.

Anthony tallied a team-high 20 points (on 6-for-10 shooting), 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals in 30 minutes.

New York improved to 5-13 with the win; Orlando dropped to 6-13 with the loss.
