Report: Cavaliers leaning toward Jabari Parker with No. 1 overall pick

The Cleveland Cavaliers are leaning toward taking Jabari Parker with the first overall pick in Thursday’s NBA draft, according to Ken Berger of CBS Sports.

Kansas center Joel Embiid being ruled out for four to six months after undergoing foot surgery is said to have tipped the Cavs in the direction of Parker, according to the report. If that were to happen, the Milwaukee Bucks would in all likelihood go with Embiid’s former Kansas teammate Andrew Wiggins at the No. 2 spot.

Additionally, Berger all but squashes the idea of Cavs general manager David Griffin trading the No. 1 pick:

Rival executives believe it would be out of character for Cleveland GM David Griffin to trade the top pick, and believe Bucks GM John Hammond would be hard-pressed to deviate from the other consensus top player in the draft after Embiid’s injury shook up the top of the lottery.
