Knicks' Raymond Felton reaches plea deal, avoids jail time
New York Knicks point guard Raymond Felton will not serve any prison time in relation to his weapons case, prosecutors announced today.
Felton "is expected to plead guilty in a felony gun possession case in exchange for being sentenced to community service and a $5,000 fine," the Associated Press reports.
He was arrested in February after his wife told police that Felton kept an unlicensed handgun in his apartment. Felton was accused of brandishing the weapon in the face of his estranged wife during arguments, but prosecutors could find no evidence to support that accusation, according to the New York Times:
Walden said Monday that the district attorney had no proof Felton had used the gun to threaten his wife. “Ray never pointed this gun at anyone, used it against anyone, or threatened anyone with it,” he said. “Any statement to the contrary is pure fiction.”

Though he was not suspended in the wake of his arrest, Felton could still face discipline from the league.
