Report: Atlanta Hawks plan to waive John Salmons

The Atlanta Hawks will waive forward John Salmons ahead of a 11:59 p.m. ET deadline Thursday, according to a report from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The Atlanta Hawks will waive forward John Salmons ahead of a 11:59 p.m. ET deadline Thursday, according to a report from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. 

The Hawks acquired Salmons in a trade that sent guard Lou Williams and 2013 first-round pick Lucas Nogueira to the Toronto Raptors in June. Salmons, 34, would be due $7 million next season, and will receive a $1 million buyout if waived.

Salmons averaged 5.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game last season with Sacramento and Toronto.
