The Cavs will send Gee and his non-guaranteed $3 million deal to the Pelicans, who will then waive him in order to clear space for the Omer Asik trade. It is unclear what Cleveland will receive in return. The deal will clear space for center Brandan Haywood, who the Cavs are expected to acquire in a separate trade with the Charlotte Hornets, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.
Gee averaged 9.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game last season in Cleveland.
